Monday: Stop Motion Animation day A day spent learning how to use Stop Motion Animation Studio to create a stop motion animation. Afternoon activities also include making LED light up art - getting creative with circuits and brings pictures to life with lights. Hot lunch included. No previous experience is needed! We start right from the beginning and keep everything simple and easy to learn with fun games and activities. Stop motion is a fantastic opportunity to learn skills such as teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and creative thinking. Making stop motion films also give kids the chance to build relationships with each other, learn how to communicate their ideas and develop their social skills as they learn to work together to plan and create their projects. This encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills, all while having fun! Inspiring girls to learn important skills for future careers TECgirls was founded to inspire more girls in Cornwall to explore tech, engineering and digital creativity, and these workshops are just one way we’re doing that. We know from 2019 data that far fewer girls in Cornwall take computing at GCSE and A level than the national average. With more and more jobs requiring tech skills, that’s putting them at a disadvantage. The workshops help girls to become micro:bit and coding mentors, enabling them to show themselves and their peers that girls are great at computing. That confidence will hopefully make a positive and lasting impact on their belief in their own STEM abilities and their aspirations for future jobs.
