Description
Would you like to create your own musical play? Do you enjoy singing, or dancing, or acting - or even all three?!? Then come join us at SYT's A Christmas Tale - Mini Musical: Play In A Week course this Winter! You’ll take part in an action-packed four days of acting, dance, singing and performance all with a Christmas theme!
Over the week, you will be creating your own piece of Theatre from scratch, with some of Somerset’s most exciting professional Theatre makers.
In just four days, you'll work with Somerset Youth Theatre to make an original play that you will perform at Highbridge YMCA on the 22nd December. Work with the professionals and wow your audience as you learn new skills and make new friends. No experience necessary, but a willingness to play essential!
Where is the registration point?: This will be inside the YMCA building (TA9 3DD) which can be accessed from the A38 - Huntspill Rd - through the front door or from the rear, main entrance in Ducketts Way. Be aware there are stairs at the rear to access the YMCA building.
What are the parking facilities?: There are a few temporary parking spaces in Ducketts Way which is accessed from Tyler Way - turn Left onto Scott Road and continue to bear left. A small area to the front of the building on Huntspill Rd can be used as a drop off point. There is also a Sedgemoor District Council paying car park walking distance across the road, about 100m down Market St. There is an in house cafe - The Purple Spoon - in the YMCA.
What is the disabled access?: There is good disabled access at the front of the building on Huntspill Rd. If parking in Ducketts Way - the main entrance at the rear - there is a ramp that gives access to the front of the building on the right as you are facing the large glass doors. Follow this round to the front door where there is wheelchair access. One of us will be there to greet you.
What should I bring to the session?: Bring your enthusiasm and wear comfortable, warm clothes. Please feel free to bring anything that helps you to feel comfortable. Juice and water will be available through the day as well as a hot lunch and biscuits for break times.
Who is the Camp Manager?: Nadja McDevitt or Ruth Coull will be there to help you out on the day.
Who do I email if I have a question?: Please email ourhighbridge@gmail.com with your questions.
What number can I phone if I have a question?: 07813469882 (Nadja).
What important message do you want to include? e.g the entrance is hidden look for the Post box on the left.: The building does not have any YMCA signage. It is directly opposite an old bank building with a Sense IT, Training and Consultancy sign, and a road named Highbridge Quay.
What specialist provision if any will you have for SEND and how should families access this?: SYT will have conversations with Parents and carers previous to the activities. Coloured paper and overlays as well as Large Print instructions/scripts will be provided. There will be quiet space available and children will have their own sound defenders if necessary. The staffing level allows for 2 TAs to have special responsibility for any additional needs, 2 Artists, 2 volunteers and 3 trainee facilitators. One TA will be the safeguarding lead.
