SS Judo are excited to host the Scottish Student Judo Championships 2026!
Date: 1st February 2026
Venue: St Maurice's HS, Cumbernauld, Glasgow, G68 9AG
Eligibility: All players must hold a valid UK license (JudoScotland, BJA, WJA, NIJF, etc). No non-UK licenses will be permitted.
All competitors must be students studying at a Scottish Institution as per our Terms and Conditions.
Weights/Categories
Individuals: All competitors will be weighed in and split into pools of 4 or 5, if possible.
Categories
Individual Championships:
Category 1: Novice- 5th Kyu Women: U48, U52, U57, U63, U70, U78, O78 Men: U60, U66, U73, U81, U90, U100, O100
Category 2: 4th-2nd Kyu Women: U48, U52, U57, U63, U70, U78, O78 Men: U60, U66, U73, U81, U90, U100, O100
Category 3: 1st Kyu & above Women: U48, U52, U57, U63, U70, U78, O78 Men: U60, U66, U73, U81, U90, U100, O100
NOTE: Weights/categories may be combined based on entry numbers.
Team Championships:
Category 4: Mixed Teams - female weight categories subject to alteration to encourage best participation.
1x U73kg, 1x U57kg, 1x U81kg, 1x U70kg, 1x U90kg, 1x O70kg, 1x O90kg
Entry Cost: Individual Entry £25 and Mixed Team Entry £70. All entries are subject to the SSS Event Terms and Conditions.
Entry Deadline: 12:00, Wednesday 21st January 2026
IA Approval Deadline: 12:00, Friday 23rd January 2026
Payment: All entries will be invoiced to Sports Unions after the entry deadline, before the event. Please ensure to make your Sports Union aware of your entry before the IA approval deadline.
Please note all teams will be charged by invoice following the event. No cash should be given on the day.
Start Time: The Entry List and Guide Timetable will be released once entries close
Weigh-In:
Novice to 5th kyu – 0930-1030
4th kyu to 2nd kyu- 1000-1100
1st Kyu and above – 1030-1130
Weigh-in will be open with the following allowances:
0.7kg for competitors wearing judogi trousers only
0.8kg for competitors wearing judogi trousers and a t-shirt
Rules:
- General - British Judo Association Contest Rules will apply all other rules according to the British Judo Association Tournament Handbook for a level 3 event.
- Judogi - Competitors may compete in any colour of judogi as long as it fits in accordance with the current BJA contest rules on judogi control. Players should bring their own blue & white belts if possible. All players may opt to wear a t-shirt under their judogi. The t-shirt must comply with the current BJA judogi control rules.
- Technical Restrictions - Novice to 5th Kyu – No strangles & Armlocks. No other technical restrictions will apply.
- Coaching - Permitted through out and positive encouragement for all players is welcome.
- Points - This event is points scoring for promotional purposes.
Officials:
Trainee officials will be used for this event under supervision. Please be conscious of this and make every effort to encourage their participation. Medals:
Medals will be awarded as follows:
2 competitors - Gold only
3 competitors - Gold / Silver
4 competitors - Gold / Silver / Bronze
5+ competitors - Gold / Silver / Bronze / Bronze
I.e. Medals will be awarded in the category competed in, and only if a contest has been won.

- Video recording of some contests may take place at this event; photographs may also be taken for promotional purposes including publication on websites and social media. In accordance with Scottish Student Sport policies, by entering the venue you indicate your acceptance of these conditions, in the absence of any expressed objection. If you wish to object, please make the Tournament Organiser aware in advance or on the day
- The Decision of the Tournament Organiser is final
- The JudoScotland/BJA Child Protection Policy will be used at this event
- All information supplied will only be used for event organisation purposes and names/clubs will be published in advance of the event
